Every second year, a transoceanic team rowing race takes place from the Canary Islands to the West Indies. 26 teams composed of two able-bodied members, from all nationalities.Dominique Bassi & myself are the only French team, and our particularity is that both of us only have one leg ! We cleared the specification chart check, qualified for the starting line on Gomera Island, and headed off on december 1st, 2005. 26 identical skiffs departed and only 14 made it to the finish line. We went through two tropical storms, Zeta and Omega, that made our lives hell. After 54 days we crossed the finish line in Antigua, finishing 3rd in the overall ranking. The winners, a multi-world-champion long-distance rowing team from England are just a few hours in front of us. The Canadian-Irish team arrived 4 days after us. Our race became a real crusade against the elements. Our misfortunes were not punishments but challenges to overcome. .................................................................
