France, Ironman: he carries his disabled brother to pass the finish

At Vichy, the start was given at 6:30 am, at sunrise, on Lake Allier. From a total distance of 226 kilometres, the Ironman, or “Homme de fer” in French, consists of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and then a marathon (42 km running). It brought together over 3,000 athletes from 52 different nationalities. Depending on the trials, Valentin pulls his brother or pushes him with adapted tools. After 16h41 of effort a few meters from the finish line, he detached Théophile from his adapted chair and wore it to allow him to cross the finish line standing. Preparing and participating in the Ironman allows me to share something with my brother, Valentin explains at La Montagne. I am a sportsman and he has become a sportsman”.
