The French round of the World Rally Championship : Corsica Tour 2015, The Shakedown
Apart from the regular contestants in the Corsica Tour, the Shakedown will also include the exceptional participation of Luc Costermans. This will be a major event for this amateur pilot, who became blind following a serious accident in 2004, and who has been invited by David Serieys, the director of the Corsica Tour. After participating once before in the Shakedown of the French round of the World Rally Championship in 2013, Luc Costermans will repeat his performance in the 2015 edition of the event. The Belgian pilot will take off at 2:30 p.m. with his co-pilot, the Corsican Mario Porcel, at the wheel of a 250-horsepower Renault Mégane RS, for the final part of the Shakedown.
« It’s a great opportunity to be present on the Corsica Tour. And it’s also a way of proving to the public that someone who is visually impaired can still manage to drive easily, with the help of a good co-pilot. This won’t be a test of speed, but, given the winding and very hilly nature of the circuit, more of a test of skill to complete it ».
