A blind pilot lands a plane unaided

For Thomas Baudin (SyNext), inventor of the Soundflyer landing aid system, this was a ìworld first.î Baudin, an entrepreneur and president of a flying club, is above all one of the sponsors of ´ Les Mirauds Volants ª (ìFlying Blindî), an association of blind airplane pilots based in Toulouse. With other members of the association, he developed a piloting aid in order to help blind pilots to be as autonomus as possible. The device was tested on a complete flight without the security instructor having to intervene or to give any information to the blind pilot at any time.

For the first time ever, a blind pilot has managed to land a plane without any help from his security co-pilot. The pilot, a member of the European Association of Visually Impaired Pilots ´†Les Mirauds Volants ª, carried out a complete flight, from take-off to landing, without any external help, thanks to an automatic system developed in partnership with the company SyNext.

The Dauphin of Corsica on the tracks of the Comte Monte Cristo.

Next autumn, meteo permitting, Thierry Corbalan, amputated of 2 arms will be pushing back his limits.

We all remember that on September 30, 2012 Thierry Corbalan had managed to cross the isle between Elbe and Bastia, short of 60Kms in 15 h 50.

While swimming, and at the strength of his mono-palme, le Corsican Dolphin will this time go from the Island of Monte Cristo to Bastia, a distance of 80 kms which he should be doing in a bit less of 24 h depending on the streams.

While waiting this summer, and in order to train, Thierry will be doing the tour of the lake of Bourget at Aix-les-Bains, close to 35 Km.

Good luck dear Friend ….

Philippe Croizon has lapped his Dakar, a real achievement!

On this 2017 edition of Dakar, the quadri amputated pilot has suffered hell, but he has never given up.
With his co pilot Cedric Dupré, he has finished number 49 in the general competition....

Philippe Croizon took up his unbelievable challenge. On saturday january 14th 2017 ,he ended up the Dakar at the 49th position in the race, out of 58 teams still competing in the car category.
Well Known for his swimming across the Channel in 2011, the quadri amputated Frenchman drove a buggy with a hydrolic joystick activated with his right arm.
With the precious help of his copilot Cédric Dupré and the whole team Croizon_Tartarin he has accomplished a real exploit. The binomial team Tartarin - Duplé
(Cedric's brother)took the 47th place.
Though Philippe finished more than 52 hours behind the winner of the race Stephane Peterhansel, he said he had " learned what the Dakar was: hell on earth all along.
So many times I have cracked, wept, howled, then you calm down, you pull yourself together, you pause and you go again."

He went on:" It' s hard, it's tiring but I enjoy it.As far as driving is concerned I get a kick out of it because I have my racing car in hand."
A few days later, here he is ,at the arrival.

An amputee runs a marathon in Afghanistan

In the name of freedom, Charlie Lewis, an amputee from London, took part in his first marathon in 2014 : it was in Afghanistan. He now runs in countries throughout the world where freedom is under threat, proving that he is alive and well.
Ten years after a serious skiing accident, and 60 operations later, Charlie Lewis realised that the only way he would ever walk (and run) again was to have his leg amputated. On November 4th 2016, the 31-year-old Londoner was in the line-up for the start of the Bamiyan marathon, in Central Afghanistan.
18 months ago, with an artificial leg in the form of a prosthetic blade, Charlie Lewis took up running again, starting off with the half-marathon in Pyongyang, North Korea – a country “deprived of liberty” said Charlie, who by then felt that he had recovered his own freedom. Bamiyan was his first marathon, and he was terribly afraid that he wouldn’t be able to finish. “I knew that I would be in pain after 20 kilometres, with the blade rubbing against my knee, so I brought some painkillers with me, and I planned to take a break from time to time”, he said. Charlie finally came in second, out of a hundred or so competitors. His next challenge (he hopes, as he still needs to find sponsors) will be the Bagdad marathon, in the spring. He aims to be able to achieve a time of less than three hours by 2018. “I’ll need a special blade in order to do that, and it won’t come cheaply. But running is what makes me feel alive”, he concluded.

Tibet, a blind psychotherapist of getting up to the Luodui.

This year, his challenge was big, attain the Luodui of a height of 6010 meter under snow.

A real success for this psychotherapist of 42 years blind. A true challenge to adapt at such a height for a body with no visual reference.

A blind man has become one of the photographers for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Just like any other professional reporter, Joao Maia took fabulous photos of the 2016 Paralympic Games while on site in Rio de Janeiro.

The only difference is, that he is blind.

« I don’t need to be able to see in order to take photos : my eyes are in my heart », said the Brazilian photographer.

When you see him at work in the Olympic Stadium in Rio, you might be forgiven for wondering whether he really is blind, or whether the most important things in life are hidden from our sight, as Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote, in The Little Prince….
