Four new worldwide records for our sports expert, Delphine Le Sausse :
In Cincinnati, Ohio, Delphine made her mark again during the last Handiswimming World Championships.
She earned four Gold medals, a reward for a year that has been full of events and emotions, especially at the French Championships : a gold medal for diving, for the combined programme, for the figure programme, and for the overall tournament.
France also won a neat Bronze medal, coming an overall third on average among the countries present.
See Delphine’s website for the complete story of her latest exploits !

5 Continents, 2 swimmers,1 purpose : linking the 5 continents.
Two long distance swimmers, Arnaud CHASSERY and Philippe CROIZON
One valid, the other one handicapped (four limbs amputated).
ARNAUD CHASSERY
Took part in the world amateur championship of long distance swimming in 2008 in Australia.
In 2008,managed to succeed in the emblematic event of long distance swimming across the Channel (the paragon event) in16h38.
In 2010, swam across the straits of Gibraltar in 4h04.
PHILIPPE CROIZON
After two years of intensive training, managed to swim across the Channel in13h23,a real achievement.
The first man in the world to achieve this feat, named the Everest of swimming, with such a heavy handicap.
WHY REALISE SUCH A HUMAN ADVENTURE ?
With our partner International Handicap, we want to show our determination and cooperation in the symbol of world solidarity defended by this NGO.
This symbol remains to be defined, but here is a concrete example: a petition across the five continents to stop the production and use of antipersonnel mines which kill and mutilate every 90 minutes.
Our aim will also be to bear a testimony of courage and surpassing of oneself, to show that solidarity still exists and then to reveal handicap in a new light.
For us swimmers, this human adventure will mean: swimming across Oceania, Asia, Africa ,
Europe and America from May to September 2013 to link them symbolically in order to build bridges between the five continents and thus demonstrate that men are not so distant from one another. If we can swim from one continent to another it is because men are closely linked together beyond social, cultural, political or religious specificities.
However, the aim of this initiative does not only deal in a sporting event, it also shows our determination to support the countries particularly vulnerable to handicap.
If you recognize yourself in our project ,our ideas and our values please join us.
Sportingly yours.
Arnaud and Philippe.

A Frenchman became the first limbless person to swim the Channel.
Guardian, 19 Sept 2010.
Philippe Croizon set off from Folkestone, in Kent, at around 6am yesterday, expecting to reach France within 24 hours, but managed to complete the feat in only 13 and a half.
The 42-year-old's arms and legs had to be amputated after he suffered an electric shock while removing a television aerial from a roof 16 years ago.
He taught himself to swim in the last two years, and does so using prosthetic legs and a snorkel and mask.
Earlier, Croizon's spokeswoman said he was swimming faster than expected after completing his first 12 miles in just eight hours.
After completing the 21-mile challenge last night, Croizon told the BBC he had never felt that he was not going to make it, despite aches and pains all over his body.
Croizon's father said his son had been helped by favourable wind conditions and had even had three dolphins swimming alongside at one point, which he said was a "sign of good luck".
