Rally – Raid, Philippe Croizon with four amputed members on the Spanish Rallly.

Philippe Croizon take over the challenge of the Baja-Aragon Rally. Comforted by his team, his mental condition and the quality of the updated car he can drive his buggy all by himself, and continue to train in view of the 2017 Dakar ...

La Baja Aragon, in Spain, is one of the endurance rally, one of the most overwhelming international races. Philippe Croizon, a sport guy of the extreme amputed of 4 members and his team have reached a very honorable time and are 7th in the open category of 10 competitors who have managed to cross the finishing line (they were 15 at the start of the race)

The race was on July 22-24 2016. Step of the world wide championship of the Rallies – Raids of the International Automotive Federation, the race gathers all the big names of this discipline, preparing for the Dakar race Nani Roma, Carlos Sainz, Mikko Hirvonen... Sans oublier Nasser Al Attiyah, vainqueur de cette édition.

Trust is Building up
La Baja, represent 600 km in 3 steps. The equivalent of one day in Dakar rave. On the beginning of the 9 first KM of Day I, I have to admit that I was not very at eayse admits Philippe Croizon. A lot of pression as I took conscience that I was getting myself into an enourmous challenge and that I was racing with the best. At the end of this first step, he is indeed at the bottom of the race ranking list. The next day, he has to step up his game : 2 stretches of 200 KM each. “It was already getting better but I was not at the top of my capacities” continues Philippe. I had a hard time to push the pedal and increase the gaz level in the straight lines to 160 km/h”
The dirt, montagneaous and dry does not allow for any hesitation: dirt, sand, and rocks, mostly rocks. And the suffocating heat gives an overview of one of the main constraint of the Dakar…

Has the race “24 hours of Champigneulles” (54) been a success for our visual deficient athletes of the Ultra-Fond?

This morning about 11 o'clock the organizers of “the Champigneulles Ultra-Fond” announced the end of the race by sounding a squib kick.
This first edition has kept all its promises. Indeed, bodied people roamed 214 Kms for men while the ladies, for the best of them, just over 182 Kms.
Let's go back to our athletes deprived of sight. Odile Hochard, already holder of the best world performance with a little more than169 Kms, took part in the event.
Around 11 o'clock, at the end of the event, she pushed her record, after a Dantesque start, at a little more than 172 Kms. During this time, the guy from Dijon, Jean Claude Perronnet, also embarrassed by the cloudbursts at the start of the race, ran a little more than 160 Kms during these 24 hours.
Welcome the new world performance of our friend Odile Hochard, and congratulate Jean Claude for this distance!
The next edition of Champigneulles will take place in 2018; hope that our friends Odile and Jean-Claude will be again at the start of the race to improve their personal performance.

The adventure is over, but is it really a failure for this paraplegic tenniswoman?

Emilie Chéné explains her challenge through this excerpt of her thank you letter :

Hi all,
The decision has been made, I won’t be part of the Rio French paraolympic team next September because I haven't been be able to be classified int the best 22 mondial players.
Seemingly, the objective is not reached but, actually, the objective was elsewhere. I learnt it during my adventure. Better than the goal, it’s the way you go through to reach it that matters.
This athletic pathway enables me to meet wonderful people who accompanied me, according to their means, envies and will. Thanks to you, this adventure was fascinating, living, wealthy.
I’d like to thank everybody with this short note even it seems ludicrous to express all my feelings with this few words,, my gratitude, my enthusiasm.
Short but precise and concise, straight to the point, so thank you all!
Now, I’m able to look ahead with many projects in mind. Surely, this human experience is gona stick with me and be part of my future life whatever I’ll try . Undoubtedly a matchless wealth!
I hope you are all in great shape. I wish you can surpass yourself with personal and professional challenges and become even greater whaterver the outcomes. To quote Winston Churchill: The success is to be able to go from failure to failure without loosing his enthusiasm.
Thanks, many thanks to all.
Emilie

Crossing the Channel in a kayak when you’re blind ? Not an easy task!

Yoann and Yannick have entered the Figaro Solo Race, to go by kayak from the port of Deauville-Trouville in Normandy to Portsmouth on the south-west coast of England (a distance of 115 miles).

Yannick Gerny is blind, but this doesn’t stop him from taking part in extreme challenges. Accompanied by his friend Yoann Deschemaeker, the owner of Concept Sport Emotion (a company which offers kayaking activities at the beach of Trouville-sur-Mer), he is ready to cross the Channel at its greatest width in a two-place kayak. The crossing is expected to take a total of 30 hours, at an average speed of 3.8 mph, all day and all night.

The crossing is expected to take place in June, between the 11th and the 16th.

Another record ?
We wish them every success !
